Super Mario Galaxy... DS?

2007-12-16

My apologies to our usual Nintendo and videogame posters (Bravado and Granite specifically) in the network, but this one was just way too good to pass up on.

So we all agree that Super Mario Galaxy for Wii was an outright major success story. The question that's now being asked is, will it show up on the DS? Well, this mysterious YouTube video seems to answer that question with a resounding yes.

Now, as for the authenticity of the video, I find it incredibly convincing, but a few things threw me off...

  1. The video was way too stable and the small shakes that were there seemed to be placed there only to convince the audience that this was actual DS footage.
  2. The polygon counts and the stars look surprisingly similar to that of the Super Mario 64 DS game. (This could also simply reflect the maximum rendering capabilities of the DS as well though.)
  3. Nintendo would never allow a leak this big without some sort of fuss. And until the video is taken down from YouTube, I choose to remain steadfast in my belief that it is a fake.

Needless to say, the video is incredibly impressive and truly shows what one is capable of staging if one has the will and desire to do so.

But the question that I'd like to ask our fellow gamers is, what would you expect from the DS version to bring by way of innovation? Perhaps a more in-depth look into the co-op gameplay by way of WiFi?
